Catch-a-Pig Program
The Catch-It-Pig contest and project is cooperatively sponsored by the Frontier FFA Chapter, and various business sponsors surrounding Laramie County.  The purpose of the contest and project is to provide a means whereby younger 4-H members may participate in catching, evaluating and selecting livestock, caring for and showing an animal at the Laramie County Fair. Emphasis will be placed on educating the member on all aspects of the swine industry as well as ongoing participation in the swine project with the assistance of individuals with experience in the swine project. Contestants compete to catch a pig that coordinate with a designated local business. Pigs caught that day WILL NOT be the pig shown by the Catch-a-Pig contestant.  Catch-a-Pig contests that are accepted will receive a scholarship from a local business to purchase a pig for the 2017 Laramie County Fair to show in Market classes and Showmanship classes. Members are required to be a first year or second year member in the 4-H swine project and between the ages of 8-12 and have the proper facilities to care for their Catch-a-Pig. Attached are the links to the Catch-a-Pig Rules as well as the application to apply for the Catch-a-Pig contest. Applicants that are accepted will be notified when the contest will take place after the 15th of March.
